Just read about this a few minutes ago. That is one priceless piece of history. I can only imagine the history that will never be told behind this rifle. I have a few relics in my collection including the rifles my ancestors carried in the civil war on both sides. I can tell you, to hold such an article and wonder where and what they have done or were they have been is a truly moving experience.

it says how old the gun is not how long its been sittin there that tree would have knocked it over as it grew if it was there long imo :florida:

I thought the same thing and dug a little deeper. The kind of tree, cold weather and very little rain in 12 months effects trees in that area. But its still hard to believe it could have stayed up for a 100 years as the tree grew some.
