Re: concealed weapon
I always consider a 380 as a woman's gun something small an easy to carry in their purse

Re: concealed weapon
oooo touchy ..lol direct answer is "NO" to small for me
The two ways mentioned are the only ones I have seen in practical use , though in your line of work you probably see more

Re: concealed weapon
I shoot it often enough it does not get old , around our farm there is always a rattler or maccasin begging for attention. I also use it finish off deer and hogs several times a year. I would estimate I go through a 50 round box of 380 a year, unless your ammo is showing signs of corrosion or has been submerged or oil soaked it is most likley fine. I have shot plenty of 50 year old surplus ammo without any issues.

I went to finish off a deer last week and the round sounded week, so I took the barrel off and the round was stuck half way down the barrel. happened twice..
was wondering if anybody else had this happen.
the ammo was about 6 months old in the clip.
was thinking carrying next to me somehow damaged the ammo?
sweat or something like that..

Re: concealed weapon
Last month I had two rounds do the same thing . One was in my 380 one in my sons. I blamed it on cheap ammo, mine aren't carried they are kept in nightstand. I don't remember which ammo I had at the time . Was buying whatever was cheapest. Not anymore!

I will not carry this particular gun anymore.
it would be pretty bad to pull the trigger to save my life to just hear a pop.
and see the person laughing as he pull's his trigger and its the last thing you hear.

I have carried a 380 for the last 3 or 4 years . Never had that happen. I had a useless dB 380 that all it wanted to do was jam and I have had 2 smith 380 and love them.

Re: concealed weapon
A 380 is better than nothing. We use a LCP when we exercise but it's not a gun I feel is good for a full time carry in todays world.
I suggest you use a high quality ammo like Winchester Silvertips or CCI Gold Dot. I worked the water for 10 years and my weapon and mags would get wet frequently. Never had a fail to fire with nickle case Winchester. If the primers and projectile are not sealed your going to see problems even with sweat and high humidity.

I have carried that gun for the passed 20 plus years,
will try different ammo.
right now I switched to a snub-38-butt believe if I had to use it it would go thru the person and possibly kill some one innocent!
that is why I like the 380-a human body will stop it.

Re: concealed weapon
The Great State of Texas approved open carry last week. Kentucky had it when I lived there 25 years ago. That's how you discourage crime ..... stops it in it's tracks.
CCP sounds to me like a direct line to your front door if someday the 'weapons police' start picking up what they already know you have. If I owned guns a CCP would be the last thing I'd want. But that's just me.

Re: concealed weapon
By any chance do you clean your weapon with Hoppe's cleaning solvent? If you do, don't use it on the magazine. It has been proven to get between the primer and casing and cause exactly what you described. Use compressed air to clean the inside of the magazine, and carefully wipe the outside then wipe dry.
