Gun Safe

Postby glades cat » Fri Jan 15, 2016 3:59 pm

Looking for a decent gun safe for 10-14 long guns and a few handguns that won't break the piggy bank. Dial type lock, not electronic or key. Any makes, models or vendor recommendations welcome. Gonna bolt it down in the closet.
I've been to a local place and seen some American Security and seen some of the Red Head and Stack On at Bass Pro web site.
Any suggestions?

I got one at Northern Tool a year or so ago, for 500 bucks, it's a combo lock only. Without the shelving, it holds about 12 long guns. They had several to choose from ranging from $200-$1300. Hope you find what you need.

I got mine at Tractor Supply, It's a Winchester brand (I'm sure it's made by someone else), supposed to hold 24 guns, but realistically holds about 12 long guns. it does have shelving along with pockets in the door for handguns. weight was around 500-600lbs, $700 (2 years ago)

Do yourself a favor and buy one that's bigger than you think you'll ever need! Also look at the fire rating. That's a key factor...those $600 safes are not near the quality as the one's costing more. Spend as much as you can afford and get the biggest you can.

I agree get the biggest you can afford. I got a Liberty 48 fatboy jr which weighs over 750 lbs and want a bigger one already.

Thanks. I agree with getting one bigger than I need now. Liberty, Amsec and a few others look pretty strong. Crowbar and hand tool resistant.
I found an American company called Sturdy. Anyone familiar with them?
