This was releaseed today from the MUCC

REVISED ACTION ALERT
Take action to prevent 70,000 acre gun hunting/snowmobiling ban in Huron-Manistee National Forest
Southfield and Lansing Meetings Canceled Due to Weather

Dear Partner in Conservation,

There are only 4 more chances to attend a public meeting to learn more about the proposed revision of the forest management plan that could ban firearm hunting in almost 70,000 acres of the Huron-Manistee National Forest. The Forest Service has canceled two informational meetings scheduled for Southfield on Feb. 1 and Lansing on Feb. 2 due to the blizzard warnings that are posted across the south Michigan area.

Please be aware that you must bring written comments to the public meeting, they will not be recording oral public comments. Forest Service representatives will be available to answer questions and discuss the issues throughout the scheduled times. The public may come and go as their questions are answered. The meetings will not have a formal presentation or a public comment period. Written comments will be accepted at the meetings

To read the background on this lawsuit and revision of the forest plan, as well as major issues and talking points, visit MUCC's website.

The point of this Action Alert is that YOU have a voice in this matter. The U.S. Forest Service has planned a series of 6 public meetings from January 31 through February 3 on the proposed alternative to ban firearm hunting and snowmobiling. In the event that you cannot attend in person, written comments are also being accepted until February 11.

It is important to note that hunters who access the Huron-Manistee National Forest, especially the areas noted on our website, are especially encouraged to submit public comment - it is your right to hunt that is being challenged! However, all hunters - even archery hunters and those who do not use the Huron-Manistee Forest - are also encouraged to take action. We must band together against this attack on our rights and heritage.
