Georgia Airboat restrictions

Postby blacksmith1415 » Thu Apr 30, 2015 9:55 am

Has anyone in Georgia heard of new airboats being restricted to just big lakes?

My son had a friend stopped by DNR(game Warden) . He is running small airboat with propeller and they were going to carry him to JAIL if they could say it was a airboat. They said airboats in GA/SC were going to restricted to just big lakes and also they were going to going to very strict on where the exhaust was run.

Thanks

Mike, I live just one hour west of Clark's Hill lake . There is six of us that ride a lot of different places and we have not had any trouble that I know of. But this is all the more reason for airboaters to be respectful of other boaters and fishermen that are out on the water.

There are no restrictions in GA. Airboaters can go anywhere every other boat goes. Only thing is Okee Fenokee. No motorized boats allowed

There are no restrictions on airboat's in Georgia except like was said in the okeefanokee, and one place along the Chattahoochee which is a National park and also Lake Eufaula area in the National Park but mufflers are required on all Airboats in the State of Georgia this is from a friend that is a Sgt with DNR

Cant run them in High Falls Lake. It is restricted to 10 HP motors. I have spoke to several here on Lake Seminole and haven't been hearing anything on new restrictions or regulations.

Georgia has no restrictions and you can have motorized boats in okefenokee, but nothing above a 9.9 HP. The Okefenokee is my stomping grounds and some great fishing and site seeing if I must say so.

Been fishing there for over 45yrs and only seen one airboat and that was biologist only, I tried to offer my services and airboat to no avail. Lol would love to ride it, miles and miles of prairies and trails. They are hard on a Jon boat.

Our GW think they write the laws but they don't. I have been AB off and on here in and around bwk,ga for 20 years and we get one on these dumb a-- now and then. One of our judges said give him a call if this happens. AB regs are like lobster regs we don't have them in GA so they have never adopted rules for such. Being a ex law enforcement person it is hard to fool the joker. To write a ticket you have to have a sub section to write from, I have never seen one. Go on the computer and go to AB laws in ga and see for your self. Because we know the law man would not lie. Well most of them won't
