I am sorry to hear about the engine...

you have had your share of bad luck.

You might check the actual cost of building the Cad vs. small block chevy with a stroker kit as Jake has done.

I have seen 383 SB's in action..they are very surprising and a lot easier to get parts...but either way I hope you get up
and running soon ( I love Cads too)

We will be thinking about you

Hate to hear that radtech! Hopefully you will be back on the water soon! It's coming down to the wire whether I'll make it myself or not, still testing and tuning and trying to get the motor broke in!

X2 on what Emmit said! Those caddy parts are expensive and maybe worth a look at least. If you ever do decide to go stroker pm me, I have a guy I used that will build you a heck of a stroker motor! Great guy! Been building motors for 25+ years And has an airboat himself and works on airboats!

Thanks, Jake. My current plan is to pick up another junk yard 500 and go through it, replace gaskets and all, and put it on the boat, then take my time cleaning old motor, boring it, new pistons, rings, HP cam, etc and build it into a powerhouse. Then, if anything happens to it, I have another motor ready in case it needs work.

Them strokers got $2,500.00 in gear boxes hanging on back and you got to get a a new prop. For the cost of a 383 and all you can do a 500 that will hang with it may not pass it but will stay with it and out last it in life. You can buy a $4,500 summit 383 and a $2,500 gear box seem alot of those go up in smoke. Hek I heard the small block boats got stuck at lake Jackson and tim took the junkyard dog a ran around them and took off. Throw another 600 on it and ride and Tim rides alot don't take him long to get his money back if he blows one every year. don't be like me and get a 10k motor and then you can't scrape up gas money for it. Good luck Tim hang in there!
