http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forward-swept_wing

I would assume the at the hypothesis whirlwind is testing involves, at least partly, the fact that forward swept wings have an airflow path opposite of reverse swept. They also work better at low speeds. You could have a lower prop rpm and still produce thrust. This would allow potentially larger gear reduction and quieter prop from reduced rpm.

Good luck with the testing!

Patti,

What hp is that prop being tested for initially? Also what is the db results so far? It Looks to scavenge some air but how is the sound of it, if that's correct?

I remember reading about the Hansa Jet being developed and then the Grumman X29.

What is the application. Is it built for car motors and big reduction, as being projected in this thread, or is another application aimed at for market. I'm closer then Florida, send me a set for testing. Bud

Thats different. Do ya'll have any more pics, would like to see the other side of the blade?
That leading edge seems short, would production props have more protection?

I've thought about this for a while. If there is any flex engineered into this blade, it will dig more at higher RPM. That is to say the angle of attack will increase toward the tip with more load.
