what prop can i run

Post by 1936 » Sat Aug 09, 2014 8:25 pm

I have a 454 with no box and presently a wood prop 76 LXL 33....it has a Crack and I Need to figure some thing else out.

Without adding a reduction box what can I run to maximize my push..

You should probably run a 72, that 76 is overkill for what you're running.

I would suggest Walter Walker Signature Series.

Other options would include Sensenich Q or H blades, or a Whirlwind Whisper Tip.

Warp drives are to loud for my consideration, although they would work as well.

okay....forgot to mention my boat is 14.5, if that matters, and my rigging set up for 4. my prop is a direct drive to motor. I now know that this set up won't push 4 on dry ground...not that big of deal...I'm learning..

the existing rigging set up is not an easy change to make room for a box...so I am going to work with what I got...just need to replace the prop as mine has got a crack..

I will start by shopping for a used prop. can you give me some specifics I need to look for so will bolt right on to what I got

thanks for the info

Definitely go with something carbon fiber! 72-74". Q blades or whisper tip. If u got the funds maybe that new ngq everyone was raving about.

I currently have a similar set up 13.5 laser hull 454DD I swing a 72x34 paddle and it pushes good, by no means a hill climber but gets me where I need to go however I am currently saving for a NGQ heard nothing but great things about the new blades can't wait to try it out.

Your engine already has a prop adaptor on it (between the flywheel and your prop) so you are already

home free in that regard. Most any late model carbon fiber prop will match up to your existing adaptor. :)
