Reduction change

Post by bbboswell » Wed Aug 20, 2014 10:51 pm

Currently running a 496, 2:1 reduction. Max push occurs at 4600 engine RPMs which matches the advertised max efficient prop RPM advertised by Water Walker.

I am in what Water Walker says is the sweet range of prop adjustment but have some adjustment left.

Question is, if I go to 2:3 reduction will I outgrow, this prop or will I be able to add pitch and gain thrust at a given RPM?

My engine is purpose built to,achieve max HPs & torque by 5200 RPMs

What prop? How many blades? What length?

Power shift - Power Plus series. 78" - 3 blade

About 3/16" of pitch left to stay within what is said to be optimum.
