What is best size prop for PE60?

Postby DHoneycutt » Wed Oct 26, 2016 9:03 pm

I just got my first airboat and it has a PE60 on it with a 72 inch 2 blade prop was told its the wrong prop not to run it so I don't damage the motor. Was told the boat will not get up on plane that it needs a smaller prop any thoughts or suggestions

First off congrats on the first Airboat. My first boat was a 10 ft. Baby gore with a pe60 on it. I had a very small (60 inches or so) 4 blade warp drive and that boat would honestly surprise people where it would go. That motor was only rated at 90 hp new. I would call whirlwind and talk to them about there props for "mini's" . Good luck finding a prop.
200 HP 4 cylinder 320 with 480 angle valve jugs, nitrous, and the balls to drive it right.
if your not living on the edge your taking up to much space.

My first boat was a franny with a pe 60. It had dual mags. I turned a 60x28 between 2900-3000 rpm. The boat ran amazing. Some of the guys swore by the 66x26 never had a chance to run one though. Good luck with your boat. Keeping it light is the key!

Here's mine, pe60

Running a Sensenich 60x32 wood/composite

The guy that propped it and built it is an aircraft mechanic. He said the it's turning in the correct rpm range which I'll know once I install my tach :)

I would think 72" would be too much prop. But the pitch factors into it as well.
