Sensenich or warp?

Postby airboater67 » Thu Feb 09, 2017 9:54 pm

I'm sure this has been discussed a million times, but just want opinions. 3 blade sensenich or 6 blade warp drive. 285hp IO-520 on 13' hamant. No racing, like push and a little snap. Been running a gpu with 5 blade warp since 95. Just seeing what's out there now. Yes the warp is still pushing, never had an issue other than the noise. Thanks !

If you want great push, you have to consider the Excalibur. It really is an awesome prop. In full disclosure, I've got one for sale. ;)

Diggin' is far from the only one to make this observation. Perhaps a better poll would be Sensenich or Whirlwind.

Sidejobs sure liked his, and he was running some pretty healthy junk.

The warp drive doesn't seem to collect votes when you want push and exclude racing. :|

Use to run a 72" 5 blade warp on a 285hp 520. Hated the sound and the sticky green grass would hang it up. Rapped up quick but just didn't have the low end needed to get moving if there was any resistance. Now I'm running a 72" NGH 3 blade on a 300hp 520, same hull/rigging. I spin it up to 2900 and it's a beast. Granted it's 15 more HP but now has plenty of snap, tops out in the 50's, and will go anywhere I have needed to go with 4 adults and a cooler. Only thing I've ever contemplated is going to a NGQ blade but I don't think I would see enough of a difference. I hear good things about the excaliber and razor set ups but not enough for me to contemplate changing. Just my 2 cents.

I have seen thrust data showing a Whirlwind wide blade prop producing more thrust than the Excalibur. If you want the best possible static thrust, you need to go with a wider blade.

Thanks , sounds like sensenich to me. I was leaning towards that anyway.

Put a 2 blade 72'' NGQ on it. ( 12'' wide, wing tip) I have a 285ph 520 on a 13' rivermaster w/ poly. It is set on 2.5 and at 2850 on the trailer. Its super responsive and will go anywhere. Stays on a plane at 1700 rpm with 3 people and a cooler in deep water.
