You need to take some pitch out of the prop and let it turn 4,500 at the motor. you will notice a substantial increase in top end thrust

The best way to set up a whirlwind prop is to start around 15 on the hub. You are using a belt box so you are going to be using the letter A. Set all 3 blades on letter A at the 15 mark on the hub. Then see what the rpm's go to. Then take or add pitch to get it at The rpm you want. Every number you add or take away is about 75-100 rpm difference per blade. The best set up for a boat that size with a 572BB is around 5200-5400rpm. The problem you have is you can't spin the motor that high with your ratio. The max on the blade you have is 2250rpm and with a 2.1 ratio you can only spin the motor to 4500rpm to stay in the safe zone of the prop. Set the prop to spin 4300rpm on the trailer, this way you should be right around 4500rpm on the water. If you have any questions you can call me 954-Six24-519Five. My name is Jason.
