Starting point on pitch

Postby Shippee123 » Thu Jun 29, 2017 9:09 pm

Switching out props and I waited to late to call Whirlwind today. I have a 74 inch stump puller on my stock BBC direct drive. I could only put 6 degrees in it and get about 2950 out of it. Pushes boat ok but has been loud cause it is set too flat.
I just got a 70 in super snapper back that I had let a friend use. Does anyone have an idea of a good starting point to set it at. I don't have a tach on the boat, so i cant just play with it. Was figuring about 16 degrees just because of it being narrower and 4 inches shorter .
Any info I appreciate

Is it a 3bld 70 or a 2bld.... 3 bld id say 16-18 but two blade you may wanna start at 20+

I spin a 68 SS 3bld at 13deg with 180hp

454 HO makes about 300HP at 3000rpm

A tach would be a good investment to start with . lmo
