I hope everyone in Texas is taking this storm serious and I want to wish you all the best. Were about 340 miles from it and all of our beaches and coastal areas are flooding just from the storm surge. it is some wierd stuff. a little breezy, the sun is shining and everything is flooding. Highway 98 that runs the coastline ( thru Pensacola, Ft. Walton Beach, etc.)is already being close due to flooding. Be safe Texas.

I've got a good friend in Santa Fe, TX that's going to ride it out. We emailed back and forth four or five times today and I wound up getting p!ssed at her stupidity. She actually said she needs to be at work Monday to make payday. I told her that her workplace (a college) isn't going to be open on Monday.

I don't know what else to do. Her husband didn't even board the house.

Thankyou loads.I will always take Hurricanes seriously.Caught up in Mississippi during Katrina.Thats why I my thoughts are with any state that is hit.Dosent really matter how far inland you are.It can possibly reach you somehow.I think I will stick to the Brazos river this time.Any Airboaters coming through Waco,,,give me a shout. The river is different depths, but rocky terrian.....YEEHAW...lol... :bounce: :bounce: bump, bump, bump
When it gets to tough for everybody else, that's when its just right for me.15 X 7.5 Duckmaster,330 hp 350,79 3 bld whisper tip....and that's enough for me.

My wife and I left out this morning about 3:00 w/ both airboats in tow. I am now wondering if I will be using them when we get back to rescue our neighbors. I live in Santa Fe, and our neighbors were not going to leave either. I know folks have ridden out storms like this in the past, but the concrete jungle encroachment sure make flooding exponetially a bigger problem than it use to be. This factor coupled with a strong surge could be devestating.

It was odd to see the different level of conservatism that was given to this storm compared to the others we had in the gulf this year. It was like many of the officials all of a sudden thought they could believe the models progging it in to brownsville. As late as yesterday afternoon we still had people in galveston and harris county stating business as usual on FRIDAY and for employees to show up to work, unless they wanted to take advantage of liberal leave policies and use their accruals--amazing!!

I hope American airboats makes it through. Talked to Faron today and they had a mandatory evacuation. Hold on tight!

I hear ya, Dan. The NHC updates have been carrying landfall a little farther up the TX coast all afternoon, closer to Orange. Our best wishes to Stan, Faron, and all their friends and family.

Hope to have all you Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma boys back here with us soon !! God speed ....

so far only 30-50% of the people have left galveston island which is supposed to be destroyed by the storm. Water is coming over the wall now and its still over 180mi out. Not sure what those people are thinking.

I hear ya, man. With 20' surge and 25' waves on top of that, I don't think they've thought this one through. I hope the roads haven't already closed when they figure it out.
God help em.
