cool trick i learned about a back up belt for your motor
ok i picked up another boat off the site last night from a really good guy dont think i could have asked for a better person to buy it from. but beside all that im sure alot of you may have done this or thought of it but i was excited when he showed me, and its just so simple lol. most set ups make it so if you have a problem with your alt. belt or brake it you have to take the prop off to replace it so if the problem or break happens out in the marsh at 4am this is a real problem. all he did was slip on a 2end brand new belt behind the flywheel and zipstriped it out of the way so now you already have your back up belt on hand and no need to take off your prop 5 mins and your back on your way. again sorry if this is old news and everyone has already done it but i just thought it was really a cool ideal.

Wade Hamant taught me that trick, and many others.

that is a cool trick.i have ran the same belt on my starter kit for about 3 years. if your kit was made right you shouldn't be throwing your belts.only if they ge old and break.good trick thow. just my thing is if you put two belts on at the same time, buy the time you get around to useing that other belt,it should be dry rotted.or if you have a problem with it throwing belts that your going to just throw the new one.

i guess that all goes out the window if you alternator takes a dump, unless we tie-wrap one of those on the side of the motor.

That is a very old school trick, I have done it for over twenty years. The only draw back is the sun will dry rot it after while.

We ran that way twenty years ago, but always remember
to change your belts as a pair because your spare does
get cracked and dry rotted. But when your ten miles from
the truck, and don't notice you threw a belt till your frog
light goes out you'll be glad it's there.
