Relocating Painterchic

Post by Grassmasher » Thu Jul 09, 2009 7:36 pm

Is there anybody that has a cargo trailer that would be wiling to let Tonia borrow so she can get moved to Lake Wales?
She was thinking about a 14ft dual axle with brakes. She is planning on being down here around the first of August. She is going to tow her car down and then haul a trailer back so she can pack it up and then drive back down.
We can rent a storage unit and get it back to you after she gets here....

Thanks Jim

Well WB, I'm not a cross country tractor trailer driver, but yes I've done some trailer towing before... I can even back a trailer up if I absolutely can't possibly find a block to drive around enough times where I can get out of it... (gonna have to practice that a tad more...LOL I think Jimzboat is up for it.... :D )

Hey Pc,

I've got an 8x20 enclosed tandem axle trailer that you're more than welcome to borrow. But that little pregnant rollerskate you drive would be hard pressed to pull it..... Load it up with your "stuff" and the rear bumper on the rollerskate would just go right to the ground... What I'm trying to say is if you get a real truck (i.e. 3/4 ton or larger) my trailer would work out great for you..... :D It's here if you so choose..
Have fun. :D

Problem solved. Start dropping M & M's @ the state line off I 95 south then when we get to I 10 start dropping them west to I 75 then north. Got the picture. She'll be lost in no time.

That's still OK. I'll be coming back from Sturgis w/ a buddy that lives in NY. He'll pick-up the trail in Atlanta.

Hey, wait a minute, a reese hitch has load bars to compensate for heavy trailer tongue weights, PC, are you calling a bumper hitch a reese hitch????

OK... I think maybe I need to start over a little here... I have a 2005 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab 4WD with the I5 engine in it... it has a gvwr of 5300... it has a heavy duty trailering package on it and yes it has a real reese hitch on it, I'm not talking about towing off the bumper. I think I need to stick to a 12-14-or at the absolute biggest a 16 foot trailer... anything bigger than that is gonna get me into trouble I think... I'll be pushing my luck with a 16' as it is... Thats one of the reasons why I think I need one with brakes... just in case... I'll have my engine in the back of the truck so that will help with axle weight some (I think anyway)...

hope there is someone that has what your looking for

U haul one way but they are expensive better off just buying one and than having it for your vinyl business

OK... got time to respond to my "buddies" who are giving me a hard time as usual...

Goldhunter... have no fear... I have a 4WD... No need for roads!!... :D

Bigkavr... Ya up for another road trip???  I know YOU just happen to have a truck big enough to haul your trailer with all my crap in it, my truck, AND my car... all in one trip! Come on... we can bond!!! I mean... come on... you survived the ride from the Orlando Airport to the AAOF in Miami alright... whats a few more miles??? Besides... think about it for a minute... Lake Wales is a whole lot farther away from Ohio than NY is, what better way to get me out of the way than to hand deliver me to Jimzboat??

Cherpa... using bait is just not fair!!!

RLWilliams... Thanks for looking out for my welfare! (unlike some of my other buddies here...LOL)

Airduds... I can only dream of having a truck big enough to haul a trailer that big... thanks for the offer!

Carp... thanks bud for the offer... believe it or not I am looking for a trailer to buy for my business, I want a vendor style trailer, but until I can get up enough $$ for one I'll have to sacrifice my wants for needs. Right now moving is gonna take all my extra cash I think for a while. But I've been looking for a used trailer to buy that I could resell and get what I really want later... but you are absolutely right about U-Haul.. they are WAYYYY too expensive! I'm still looking into some other ideas too...

U-Haul trailer rentals ARE expensive IF it's "one-way"
Daily/weekly rental is fairly inexpensive ~$35. a day.
Sometimes buying a good used trailer is an excellent investment.

I can drive over to the intersection of I-10 and I-75 to make sure she doesn't take the wrong turn, --- although I wish she'd relocate here so she could help me (and all us airboaters) kick a little sense and sensability into these lawmakers heads! besides we have SEASONS up here so she would feel more at home....

then, if we get all the clubs along !-75 to spread their members out along the roadway (M/M s in hand) -- we can get her to the Turnpike -- then it will be up to
BIG GOBBLER and crew to get her down 27 to Lake Wales...I know Gobbler is a year older -- but I think he can still handle that part of the route.

If we find enough folks along her track coming back here we could line up at intervals along the highway with sling shots and M&Ms and feed her as she passes by ! Gotta write her some instructions to keep the window rolled down though.

Just showing my caring side here. I hate to see a hungry girl.

Well, it sure is nice to see that some of my buddies are willing to help me get to Lake Wales.... while others... ahem... (Cherpa, Nomad, and Goldhunter... oh and lets not forget Bigkavr, you know.... not mentioning any names of course...) are trying to make sure I drive in circles all the while following the yellow brick road, so to speak, of M&M's, that lord only knows where I'll end up  Hmmm... maybe I should invest in a GPS just in case the M&M's get the best of me... (again... lol)
