He did call me cntry. But thanks for thinkin' of me! :)
Roger, sorry I had such a hard time hearing you on your call!!! Between the poor connection, my bad hearing, and the fact that I was driving in a loud vehicle at the time of your call, well it all added up to you repeating yourself a lot. My apologies! That area is on my list of "to do" areas. I've got a new supplier for aerial photos, and it'll be added to my collection soon.

Yeah, Google maps has pretty good coverage in that area. Too bad it's not easy to take a laptop and wireless internet connection with ya on the boat! It sure is getting easier in that dept. My wife is strongly considering one of Verizon's "net books" a little laptop with cellular internet built right into it. Only a hundred bucks with a 2 year contract. Wow. About a 9" screen. And these little "tablet" computers are really taking off.... I predict it won't be long before we see those things mounted to boats in place of GPS.

Good luck and happy boating.

matt.

Mood
you won't find the computors taking over the GPS's on boats.4 or 5 years ago computors and the navagation programs were the hot item. But the ones that were water proof were 4000.00 for just the screen. And they weren't daylight viewable. The major manufactors of marine electonics.Decided enough was enough.
Chart plotters today are daylight viewable. The processors are 10 times faster. The come preloaded with the charts and are radars, fishfinders, live weather and charts plotters combined. With no monthy fees other then the weather service.Nope computors are great but they can't complete with the marine electronics available today. They tried and failed.

I have a few different copies of maps from that area a buddy gave me. Does not show airboat trails. If your in or around ocala call or Pm me and you can make a copy.

Mood If your want a copy start from your more that welcome. one is for hernando to turner camp road, the next one cover the the 2 lake the area before you get to the moccasin slough crossing. I hav 2 small maps 11x17 the show flying eagle to the river and the river to the sr200 bridge.

Gonna ride hernando on sunday.

Gotta work on Sat.

Meeting a few others at 10:00 at the ramp on Sun.

Lee and Steve how about 10:00 instead of 11:00.

Water in the lake is higher than I have seen it in the 5 yrs. Went down to inverness for a meeting water in the river looked high as well after the last rain we had.

OLD THREAD!

The best I have seen is a hand drawn map that was re-printed and laminated, someone was offering with all the hideouts, trails and local terminology.
If I can get my hands on a few will put on classifieds.

Kind of neat reading this 6 year old thread about the technology change from just those few years ago until now. The tablets and phones have daylight viewing, water proofing, accurate gps capable with animated or topo satellite graph views that are frequently updated.

Technology really has moved forward at lightning speed in the past 10 years. Especially the reduction of size and price with mobile tech devices. The Garmin GPS / Plotter in my boat now would have cost thousands back then and now it is sold for under $400 at every supply vendor online.

The majority of guys slide with phone apps that 5-6 years ago was unthinkable to many.

Just always put a compass in your gear bag because you just never know when the military will pull down the Satellite network.

I have all the gps numbers for all the island hangouts , meeting places , the slides, for the entire loop . I need to post them . If you have the coordinates, you can get an idea if trail heads that way.

Google Earth will show you coordinates, zooming in you can see slides , CCAA buildings and shelters on the islands . Google Earth will give you almost everything you need .
