Suwannee River Drowning Victim Found

Post by poobought »

A 20 year old girl drowned at Little River Springs Tuesday, July 27th. Our Airboat club was contacted this morning to help search for her. I found her at 8am this morning and assisted Suwannee County Sheriff's Office with the recovery of the body. This is a very sad day, but I am glad North Florida Conservation and Airboat Alliance could help.

Sad news indeed, just a reminder everyone needs to be careful out there swimming, we've had a lot of drownings lately. Good job poobought, I am sure you gave her family some much needed closure.

I was just talking to my grandmother about this last night...My grandparents live about 10 minutes away from little river springs I've spent alot of my youth during the summers swimming at the springs. I also use to go hunting with my grandfather at little springs management area. I wonder if she was free diving in the hole. I have'nt read the article yet but will do to learn more...There's always articles in the newspaper about divers getting lost in the caverns and running out of air up there... :?

Man, that is a tragic loss. Well done Poobought. I'm sure your work in the successful recovery efforts was well appreciated. It's always a long, quiet and solemn ride home after an event like that.

Thanks everybody. This was the first recovery I've ever been a part of, so it's not something I'll soon forget. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
