Spent the day on and off working on the rake. Hmgm123 has a rake design on his boat that I like alot so "sorry" had to copy it. Very time consuming to get the bends done and equal especially with a hand pipe bender. Couple of more braces and everything should be done so that I can move on to putting the nose cap on deck this boat already.

Wow. Surprised you didn't go with a full grassrake. Either way good job bud.

Officially finished with the rake. Welded in the supports and finalized a couple of welds and now done. On to decking the boat.

Yeah Swamp, spent some time really thinking about going solid with corrugated metal to let the airflow through. Talked to several people to get opinions. Hmgm123 along time back told me he really like his and that always stuck in my head. Jimmy also told me he was happy with his emt rake. I figured that basically I could build this be $20 in the hole and 8 hours in and if I don't like how it functions then I'll just build the solid rake. Talking to the different people and opinions and for what I plan to do with this boat it should be sufficient.

It's less prone to fly with that tube rake.

That rake looks better than a full rake to me!

I now see why it will be tough putting the bow cap on, we put the braces on before fitting the cap, the once the cap is on then the rear angle goes on, followed by the side deck rails and so on.

The rake looks really cool. I like the design. You can always easily replace if its ever damaged. Congrats on almost getting the boat done. Again I emphasize ALMOST. lol... Im dying to ride 3b. Haven't yet.

Yeah John, thanks for the order of things. I fabricated a tool and will soon see if it will resolve my problem which I think it will. I may have to undo a couple of supports to be comfortable to get er done. We'll soon see.

Thanks John. I'll check them out. I'm actually gonna copy a deep sided open hull Davis boat that my buddy has.

Al Kennedy's. By Paul's you mean Paul Scholer? He doesn't have that boat anymore, but he misses it and would love to find it.

Yep, Paul Scholer, I've been wanting to build one like that with an Ls and a gear drive. Go anywhere in the woods you want!

Yeah, Paul's was 12' I think and he bought it from Larkin. Al's is 14'. I'm planning to go 14'-6" with a 383 w/ alum heads and gearbox. Can't spend LS money right now. I LOVE that hull though!

We sent one to La. For oil rig work as well, the one Paul got from Richard was a true workhorse, they pulled cable and all sorts of stuff with it. We sure hijacked this thread eh? Lol!
