We were there at the same time. I arrived there on Thanksgiving Day in '66, and came home in Mar.'68. My deployment was originally for 13 months, but when the Tet offensive started ramping up they extended me for 60 more days. Small world.

Have 4 generations of Marines in the family that served in WWI, WWII and Desert Storm.

I was the only one to make a career out of it having served in the U.S. Army from 1987-2009 and two wars. Oldest boy is in the Army now; didn't see him for 2 months later after he was born because I was in Desert Storm with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, so I guess it's in his blood. Gotta give the wife credit too for having him solo (still haven't lived that down) and putting up with me and the number of moves we conducted over 22 years.

Proud to have served and grateful to every other veteran that has worn the uniform and sacrificed for this nation.

Capt Don, I was at Camp Carroll in 67 and 68 also. I was with MCB-5 (Navy Sea-Bees). The year before I was in Da Nang. I finally got smart and flew Jets with the Iowa Air Guard for 20 years. Dong Ha was a little rough.
