Seeking an airboat tour

Post by toddpressman » Wed Apr 04, 2012 1:38 pm

Hi everyone, My wife and ten year old daughter and I are coming to the Everglades on Sunday. I'm interested in hiring someone for an airboat ride through the Everglades but want to avoid those horrible commercial outfits (30 people on a boat, doesn't go anywhere, major tourist trap). I also can't afford the private tours I see advertised on the internet. Anyone interested in taking us on a tour that won't cost us an arm and a leg? Thanks much, Todd Pressman

Coopertown is reasonable and fairly private as they dont overload the boats, also Tigertail airboat rides is another to look at, enjoy your stay!
I never finish anyth,,,.

Everglades is a pretty broad term... where specifically are you going to be?

Thanks for your responses. Don't know exactly where in the Everglades we'll be; trying to decide based on where/if we get an airboat tour. We'll be coming from Miami airport and going to the keys with a day in the Everglades.

Haven't looked into Coopertown yet, but is it really worthwhile? Again, I'm still thinking of the past experience I had which was just plain bad. Thanks again, Todd

I just got back from FL and highly recommend Marshal Jones . Nice guy , very knowledgeable about the Glades . He is a true Gladesman . Has kids of his own and is used to dealing with children .
The place they own is called Mack's Fish Camp , they live in the Everglades and it's as real as it gets .
Marshal is on Southern Airboat as Old Man Jones ( odd because he's only in his 30's ) .
Worth a call 954-536-7400 . Tell him Bob from Canada suggested you call .

X3 on Macks, you won't be disapointed. We stayed there a few weeks back and had a really good time. Them Jones boys are good people.

Thanks again for all your help everyone. We're driving from Key Largo to Miami airport and looking to do the boatride somewhere along or near that route. Also, the gentleman at the Chamber of Commerce (who has an airboat himself but is too far away) said that someone might be interested in doing it just for the cost of the gas which would be around $150. Does that sound reasonable?

Mack's Fish Camp is about 30-40 min from Miami international but is well worth it.

Just be aware that it seems the water is dropping by the day right now.
