Hydro turf

Post by bbb »

Any of you guys use it in your boats? I've had it in my duck rig for years and love the stuff. No more hot feet. No slipping and sliding when the floor is wet or damp.

Just installed it in my airboat this morning.

Plus it's good at hiding holes from previous failed ventures. :). Previous owner drilled 8 holes in the deck for a trolling motor mount. :(

Same stuff they put on jet skis. Closed cell, will not retain water and the 3 sheets it took to do my floor weigh less than 10#s.

How does it as far as wear and tear and keeping it clean?
Looks great and I have been looking at it online and have got a few sample colors from them.

Its been great for me. I put it on a couple years ago and its still in great shape. I do keep my boat under a shelter though. I bought the Grey Close-Out stuff for my duck boat($40 a sheet) and painted it.

Before Paint

Painted it at the same time as the boat with the same sprayer.

Even resists deer blood. I lightly pressure washed it the next day and got all the red off.

The paint holds pretty good, but being a duck boat, there is alot of foot traffic, so the paint wears off the high traffic area. I bought it without the 3M backing and just used Weldwood Contact Cement to put it down.

This new batch actually came from http://www.gatortraxboats.com/p-160-hydroturf.aspx. This camo color is only available through them, and it comes with the 3M backing that you peel and stick. I will say, it was ALOT easier to put this down, though the sheets were twice as much($80 a sheet).

Well if you're dog is trying to dig a hole in the floor of your boat, yeah it's gonna tear. However a lab in a hunting situation had no wear on my turf.

And it also keeps the dog safe when he's not sliding all over the floor if your boat.

As long as you don't go overboard and install it on the lid of your cooler. ;)
