Sad day man to see the Cowboy camp gone!

Post by D-BREWSTER »

I havnt been on Lake Cypress for awhile and I wanted to take some buddy's to see the Cowboy camp before SFWM made a decision on the old camp, well sadly SFWM didnt want to wait while the KRVSA and others were trying to get the camp Historical status so it could be protected. There's nothing left but a fresh patch of dirt where the camp once was! Made me sick to my stomach and pissed off!! At the very least they could have just left it the heck alone!! They wont go out and pick up that giant log at the entrance to dead river that somebody's gonna hit and get killed but they'll go out to a 80 year old camp in the middle of a oak head that aint hurting a soul and knock down and haul out a piece of Florida history!!

This just makes me sick, damn cabin was not hurting a thing. Atleast my kids got to see it before it was destroyed.

I am frustrated that the cowboy shack was destroyed. Them MFrs pissed me off so much, that shack didn't hurt anyone. They just didn't want us to have a place to go to get out of the weather. It was another way of controlling airboaters. They have destroyed a piece of history, just to stop airboaters from going and seeking refuge from the weather. So what I have to say to you SWFTMD is I will never support you for any reason. I am sorry that I went off, but this is the way I feel.

Having never been to cowboy camp I do not know what exactly was lost but can imagine what it was due to missing many camps in the Big Cypress and elsewhere that were destroyed by our lousy rotten to the core State and Federal overseers.
I have but one thing to say - go ahead and censor me but **** THEM, **** THEM, **** THEM into the DIRT for Eternity.

The only solution is Revolution!

I like Gladesman's solution.
The problem: Some of the foot soldiers are our friends. I wouldn't take my wrath out on them.
The orders come from above...and it rolls down hill.

Florida has interesting Arson Laws.
I wonder if it applies to SFWMD.

Arson in Florida
Arson, as defined by chapter 806.01 under Florida statute Title XLVI, is any instance where a person intentionally and willfully creates or exacerbates a fire that damages property they do not own.

Mmmmm?

I am from Texas, but I been to that Cabin. On my very first airboat ride with my wife we hired a guide and we went off for a ride. That ride is what inspired us to buy our own airboat. I didn't know the history of the cabin until the guide told us all about it. Damn shame it is gone.

Contacting a State's attorney may be in order. Once contacted the attorney will notify the offending party. That will seriously get their low down attention. Bureaucrats don't like anybody watching them too intensley.

Oh, and by the way tough luck for the ?foot soldiers? - if they're not part of the solution they ARE part of the Problem.

On top of that a bunch of folks should go to their low down agency's meeting (after notifying the press) and raise holy hell demanding them to rebuild the camp.

With a little luck I believe those who care could get it back.

Getting this issue into the news media as destruction of a cultural site that is very important to many

Someone from the area needs to be there to film whichever agency lights a torch to this cultural site.

The film could be used on youtube, news media and at meetings to put the agency involved into the Hall of Shame for destreoying a cultural site as they go about their crime of cultural cleansing Gladesmen Culture from the region.

If this ain't reason enough to go to media PR war with these folks there won't ever be reason enough.
