scalloping
scalloping
I have never been and want to go next week but have no clue where to stay or where to go. I have found a Best Western and Plantaion Inn on the water in cyrstal River, Is that a good place or should I try to go further north?

Re: scalloping
We went this past weekend to Homosassa. We stayed at the oasis not on the water. Carried the airboat and had a great time.

I like Keaton Beach, above Steinhatchee. Plenty of 4'-6' water and well protected ...... fairly calm there most of the time.

I agree with olf art. That area has been good to me over the years and most of the time my group has had the area to ourselves. Def not as crowded as south of dead mans bay. Im heading out there the wknd of the 15th.

I JUST GOT BACK YESTERDAY FROM HOMOSASSA, STAYED AT THE PLANTATION AND LOVED IT. CAUGHT OUR LIMIT OF SCALLOPS IN A COUPLE HOURS AND SAW LOTS OF MANATEES IN THE CANAL RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR ROOM. THE KIDS CAUGHT SOME CATFISH IN THE CANAL TOO......KEPT THEM BUSY. ALL IN ALL WE WERE HAPPY WITH STAYING AT PLANTATION.

How long of a boat ride is it to where you go scalloping? Is the Plantation busy during the week?soulechoe wrote:I JUST GOT BACK YESTERDAY FROM HOMOSASSA, STAYED AT THE PLANTATION AND LOVED IT. Re: scalloping
All depends what kinda boat you got...in a pontoon. Probably an hour. In a good kicker, about 30 minutes
Re: scalloping
I'll be on my pontoon and it isn't very fast but I guess we will have fun

Re: scalloping
We've gone out of Crystal River and Homosassa both this season. Did'nt matter where you go out of Homosassa we caught our limit. Crystal River took a little work. Both are fine though. Try McRaes for accomodations.
