pondering

Post by :) » Thu Aug 29, 2013 7:10 pm

So i got stuck a few weeks ago and ever since then ive been pondering. What do i need to go back to that spot and drive away without a rakeshake, which i dont have a rake? So what should i do? Gear change, prop swap, 100 shot of NOS?

Currently im running a 16 ft kennedy, rod boxes big deck, Blueprint 450hp(dyno sheet to show), 2.09 stinger, and 3 blade whirlwind stump puller(78").. its set at 16 mark turnin 5200 wot... motor made peak power at 5400.. good cruise is about 32-3500. Which is already in a good day borderline what i want to be at.

Seems to me a prop switch would be best. I like the motor being at about 5200 no higher than 55-5600. But i want my cruise a hair lower. So am i wanting a pipe dream? Maybe so, thats y im asking!

Without a doubt: Gearbox ratio change. Put a 2.55 on it. You will be amazed how much more push you get.

:) , Under what conditons did you get stuck? Some higher powered bigger prop boats can find thier limitations and at some point get stuck.

Well there were 7 boats there, i think 4 were stuck.. we all parked on a sandbar on the intercoastal and after 2 hrs or so of the tide going out well there we were. I pulled up on it with no problem but guess the suction got me. I understand my boat is very heavy i just think she has more to offer.

Just think with the props that are out there now, as far as my money goes its more affordable to switch prop. Wide blade = lower rpm push? I just dont know if that solves the problem.

Gotta go with Skinny , box change to 2.38 , 2.55 , 2.68 and you will see a world of difference. You will be able to throw all the pitch you want at it. I have a 2.68 and with the pitch I run , I am cruising at less rpms than you stated you were. Its all about moving air.
