They weren't in the middle of the lake, I saw the boat yesterday morning and it was at burnt bridge between the islands. I would have tried to help but all I have is a 180 and the boat was a big car boat. He was coming back with family and said they would have it out in no time. Looks like he went over one of the old bridge pillons, that is about six inches out of the water and rolled it on its side.

Your 100% right... People would believe all of the stuff there is out there to hit or run over... Theres tractors, disks, plows, devil catchers, concrete pump stations, concrete pilens, water pumps, old busses, big tractor tires & rims and more fence posts than you can count and most of all of this is just below the water. A lot of the locals know what areas this stuff is in that's why I tell everyone that I know is not from here what areas to try to avoid. About 15 years ago I ran over a devil catcher with my Thurman boat and ripped the poly all the way off so I've had so bad experiences myself

I'm not sure what's the real name for them but that's just what there called here in the glades but its like a big roller with big welded spikes on it that pull with a big tractor down a canal bank intead of mowing. If I can find a picture of one I will post it. Needless to say its a airboats nightmare... Lol!

Yep, must be a weed chopper, the ones used here have blades running horizontal about a foot apart. made from a L P tank, they fill it with water for weight.
If it has spikes, its a aerator.

Yeah he hit the submerged pilings at the Twin Bridges crossing, a bridge burnt in the early 80's. Not a good thing to hit espically late at night. Boat flipped throwing operator and passanger from boat. another reason to wear a PFD when on the water.

Not to ruffle any feathers, but there is a sub-forum in Airboat Safety called Navigational Hazards......if Lake O has so many underwater hazards, how come nobody has tried to document them for those not familiar with the area? I would think if it saved just one boat or maybe a life the small effort would be really worth it.

Because all of this stuff is up in the bushes and off the trails. That's why I tell everyone to stay on the trails and don't make your own. As far the posts at "burnt bridges " I thought they where cut off even with the ground when the lake level was down.
