Heres something I can tell you as far as power goes. My fathers motor is a 10. 5-1 582bbc, dart 345s, 700in solid roller, 1250cfm pro system dominator in a dart low deck block built by scott shafiroff. Moral to the story james helms new motor spins the same prop which is an 80" 9 blade saber set at the same pitch more rpms than that big block.... I will steal daves saying here that the proof is in the prop. And yes both setups are comparable as in with airflow to the prop. Im ready tony I know I set myself up for that one lol.

Yes sir! Love AC cobra's. Beautiful car. I've always had hotrods, I just recently sold my 07 corvette Z06. 456 rwhp with bolt on's - stock internal engine.digginfool wrote:A Dub! You're a gear head? Next time I see you, I've got to show you pictures of my car. Replica of a 1965 AC Cobra with a Ford Racing 392 and a full set of 48 IDA Webers on top. Engine dyno'd at 500 HP and car weighs 2,300 lbs. It's a beast!
Those 800hp NA, LS engines are most likely built with an LSX block, and are max effort builds with a huge cam that will only perform well when held wide open.
With the addition of E-85 people can run more timing and get higher horsepower numbers, at the cost of fuel consumption. You could probably build a 454 ci LSX with 13:1 compression on e85 and a good set of heads - you'll be close to 700
Here's an example of a max effort build:

440lsx
HRE sheetmetal intake with twin dominators
GMPP LSX 6 bolt heads (i think DR heads) 2.20 intake valves 1.65 exhaust valves
jesel 1.8 shaft rockers
diamond pistons 14:1 compression
282/304 .970 lift 114LSA cam
custom 2 1/8" to 2 1/4" stepped headers into a 4" collector
830hp at 8200rpm / 620tq at 6200rpm on motor.
1330hp on a single stage 450 shot

Please guys do some research. They are making 600hp with 418s with stock heads and intakes, and cams that sound like you were gonna drive miss daisy!

X2 on that. The LS427 we have on one of our boats fires up with the push of a button and idles damn near as smooth and quiet as the PCM LSA we have. Makes 615hp and 595tq using stock heads and intake. EXTREMELY well mannered motor at all RPMs except WOT and then it's all sounds down right rankbig3country8 wrote:Please guys do some research. I think Dave's right on point offering a "budget" EFI LS that still turns some prop.

That has been my dream car since I was 18 in 1963. Saw one at the San Francisco Auto Show, the next year walked into a auto showroom in my town, sitting there was a AC Cobra 289 version (before the 427's came out), for $6000 msrp. Was trying to figure out how I could buy one on my $1.35/hr wage working in a gas station. Then the salesman yelled at me for leaning against the aluminum body, said I might dent it. Those were the days. Buddigginfool wrote:A Dub! You're a gear head? Next time I see you, I've got to show you pictures of my car. 15x8 Alumatech hull, with enclosed cab, aluminum cage, LS 3, 6.2 aluminum block ffi, 2.7 Balistic Box, sensinich superwide 3 blade. Built for year around riding in Alaska

For what it's worth, the car is on eBay right now, although I don't know how much driving time you get in Alaska for a car like this. It does have a heater! Re: New Waterthunder EFI 500HP Iron LS $8,900
kprince520 we just came out with this motor I sold them as 450HP but when they swing a 3 blade R over the 2nd mark over 5,600RPM's I know exactly how much power they make not to mention how many pounds of hour of fuel flow thru the injectors. But we will be running one on our dyno shortly.
This motor will take a beating and runs on premium like all our other motors. Once again I could make some changes and produce some huge HP numbers but it wouldn't run as good. We have these on some bigger heavier boats and they run awesome.
Since everyone is running LS motors now it's time for me to build a different type of motor.
