Lightheaded 5.5" Cubes

Post by jroger » Fri Feb 28, 2014 11:29 am

Looking into rigging up a light bar on my airboat and wanted some opinions on how you guys think these cubes would work out in a bowfishing application! I'm curious to how well they would penetrate these dark central florida waters! Any opinions are appreciated!

I have a 40" light bar from light headed on my rake and my dad has the new cubes on his rake...Mine is a higher rake then his..with that bein said i think his are more crisp and more or a direct beam of light. My bar spreads out a lot more and is a lil less crisp in color than the cubes. Its more personal preference honestly. I like my bar better because it is a wider pattern, but either way you will not be dissappointed. Kenny has great customer service and a great product. I would buy from him again in a heart beat.

I removed the two KCs from my cage and replaced with the 5.5 spots. I'm very impressed with them and they work great with the 40" Rigid light bar I have on the rake. This is a picture of the light bar alone.

This is everything. To be fair, you have to keep in mind the spots are about 6 feet higher than the bar. The bar is much brighter than the spots but as you can see, the spots are excellent, especially for the price; the two spots were about a third the cost of the bar.

I've run a pair of 12" lightbars, a 20" on one boat, (2) 5" cubes on another and a 40" lightbar on the most recent boat. The 5" cubes are awesome and wouldn't hesitate to run them again.

Hey krazymatt - you might want to consider a pair of these cube. Much brighter than a 40" bar, cost less for a pair and far sturdier!!! I'm switching my light bars out for cubes on both my boats. Spots on cage for riding and floods on rake for gigging/bow fishing/gator hunting.

Are you fellas using a relay with the 90 watt cube ? Is it recommended?

The 90 watt cubes draw less than 6 amps ea at 12 VDC so a relay is not recommended or necessary unless you are using a low amp switch or don't want to run your "power" wire all the way to your console. Most switches that are used on boats are 10 to 30 amps. Just pay attention when you buy your switch and get at least a 20A switch if you plan to run two. Hope this helps. If you still have questions feel free to post here. More than likely someone else will be wondering the same thing. If you need help with the wiring let me know and I'll help. :thumbleft:

Fook...Thanks for posting the pics. Boat looks damn good! That supercharged 540 should get'r done.
