I do believe this is the last photo of him. Sitting in his beautiful room at the hospice house about a week before his passing and telling me the story of his "The Last P.I." rudder art. A surveyors world is all about overcoming problems and challenges.... Until that last challenge. ;)

Rest In Peace John. You indeed have made a difference. Thanks for all you have done for fellow airboaters and the info and knowledge you shared here on SA. Your posts will indeed be missed.

Thanks for being his friend to the end Matt.

John was indeed an airboater in every sense of the word. An innovator, an engineer an advocate for quiet airboats and an Airboat Man of exemplary character. He educated many SA members and was never shy abot expressing his learned opinion. He was a Friend of mine and he leaves a large void. Slide On, John.

John will be missed...RIP.

Matt, I can tell that you made it better for him at the end. I think everybody here thanks you for that.

Two things that I'll always remember about cntry141. He built the first really quiet reducted car motor boat that I had seen and on that SA run on Lake George (almost 9 years ago) when he found out we were missing a boat after dealing with the 3' waves coming back. Immediately he was backing his boat back down the ramp to look for a missing boat. I remember him saying "moodfood ain't back yet?" and taking off.

A quote from cntry141...

I remember him telling me at devils mud garden airboat races that "I believe letting another man race your boat is about like letting him sleep with your wife." Still makes me laugh to this day
