Post by airboat233 »

Hello forum, I am brand new here and wanted to introduce myself. I am finding it hard to navigate but i'll hope to figure it out. I could not find a place to put this post so sorry if its in the wrong spot. I'm "old school". Had my first boat in the glades in 1968 (a real slug). Move to central fl. and have been riding the Kiss. chain since 1972. Have not been out there since 2008 (Lawmen from Kiss) plus my age, eyes mostly. I hope to maybe run into some old or new buddies. Most of mine are gone. Started riding up here with Nick Griffen RIP. Anyway I sure miss the lake. This is I know is getting way to long. Sorry, Sidewinder, Jerry Renney Sr. Thanks.... (ps airboat233, the 233 is for the 233rd airboat ever registered in the state of Fl.

Welcome aboard ! Were glad you found us. You are definitely in the right place for your first post. Pull up a stump and sit a spell and tell us about some of the old days airboating. We love to listen to those who a part of our history. We keep the camp fire lit and the stumps open for just this kind of thread here.

Welcome.. Site is pretty manageable to navigate.. Rick did an awesome job of putting it together. Hope to see you out on the water. Make sure that you make some of the big rides. Memorial Day in Kissimmee and the Freedom Ride in Kissimmee. Several hundred boats show up on all of the rides. Some great times. KRVSA (Kissimmee River Valley Sportsmans Assn) usually feeds us airboaters VERY WELL on these rides. Feel free to run with any of us.

Slide safe.. Chive On..

Sorry Scotty, no pic,s> The boat was homemade. Hull made from wood,( if the boat saw dry land a half mile away I got stuck). Engine was a covair spyder, cage was a half cage, no top section. Banks maxwell stick prop. Myself and a friend launched at Holiday Park off hwy 27 on a Friday about noon in june of 1968. Broke down about 30 miles from launch. "Did not file a flight plan". Started burning parts of the hull the first night to keep the mo-keets off ( they could stand flat footed and screw a turkey). Sunday noon rescued. All of hull was burned and the prop. Left the rest and RIP. 6 months later was running second boat. Hope I didnt talk to much. ps respect your boat and it will respect you.

Welcome AIRBOAT233.

Curious about your other post of 300 feet in 3.2 seconds? That's pushing 70mph from a dead stop on water with a ac motor? You have my attention!

Nope, never been in law enforcement. They were always into me. I have always ran straight 12'' pipes, have never had any numbers on rudders or hull, painted all flat black except my wood stick prop, hull has ID plate and regist. sticker and and paper was always in the deck along with safety equip.
