Everglades Youth Camp mid 60's

Post by bwright » Fri Sep 12, 2014 9:13 pm

Wildlife Conservation League of Palm Beach County had a vision in the early 60s to create a youth camp inside of the JW Corbett Wildlife Management Area. Five decades later it's still going strong because of strong cooperation with conservation minded clubs. Here are some old photos that were given to me and I wanted to share them with y'all enjoy.

That place amazes me and how many peoples lives it's touched :D Love seeing the faces on someone who never knew it was there.

Awesome photos.
That place is a fine legacy left behind by all the baddass Airboaters and Florida Conservation Clubs that built it.
I think of what an accomplishment it was every time I have a chance to visit that place.

I also spent a week there back in 87 I think. Spent most of my time fishing in the stocked pond. Alot of fun.

Had a week there in the late 80's, too. I remember wading waist high, fishing and getting the biggest bass I'd seen until then, shooting at the range and no ac. Glad to see they're still toughening up young blood.

Brings back memories. I went there as a kid in 70 & 71. I still have pics from the Palm Beach Times (now the Palm Beach Post), where they did an article while I was there. Got several pics of me from that article in my photo album.
