2015 NAARD new class and rules.

Post by Waterthunder » Mon Jan 19, 2015 11:04 am

NAARD had the year end meeting to crown last years champions and review the rules.

I convinced the committee to adopt a new class. I feel this is a great class to help the sport grow by getting new racers and boats to attend. The new class is automotive Pro mod in other words a nitrous class for those real fast boats who cant run unlimited. The only major rule for this class is you can not run race boat or unlimited and run this class. This class is not intended for people to step down it's intended to draw new racers and boats to the sport.

Also it is now legal to run a direct drive automotive motor in the A/C Pro Mod class. So we will finally see if a car motor can run as good as a A/C when it doesn't have a gearbox! A/C Pro Mod boats are the fastest A/C powered airboats in the world! So we once again can have the car motor vs the A/C motor battle. Which I also believe will be great for the sport!

So will the "ecoturd" be allowed to run in Automotive Pro Mod?

I have already heard from 3 people who have never raced that they will run this class. However thats to be seen, if they actually show up. One thing I have learned from a lifetime of racing is the best time to enter is when there is a new class. Because the 1st time people are slow and after the 1st race many people say well if that guy won it and he is slow I can win it. Then they next few races faster people show up. So anybody with a fast ride boat that has nitrous or a turbo or a blower here is your best chance to start racing.

Hell for the 1st race I will throw in a bonus sponsor payout!

P.S. I will not be running this class for at least the 1st half of the year and if I ever do, it will be with our DD project!

In other word I doubt I will ever bee competitive in it because I dont see how a car motor boat with out a gearbox can ever out run a carmotor boat with a gearbox.

Have a question what's to stop a unlimited boat from racing this class and just not racing in unlimited

The rules dont allow it read what I 1st posted and you will see that its in the rules for this class. Also there were a few unlimited guys wanting to try and run this class and NAADR said no!

The #1 rule for this class is no unlimited boats or race boats are allowed to run this class!

Good to hear, better than running in Unlimited or Grudge Match only. After all it's just a little 4-banger and the nitrous is just a little spool shot to get that turd off the ramp. Glad to hear we fit into a class now, we'll definitely show up and run our little crapper :D

Another possibility I brought up,,,,, is if the winner of this class runs a faster time than the slowest unlimited he must move up to unlimited at the next race!

See the whole purpose of this class is to draw in new fast racers and boats to start racing. ITS NOT INTENDED FOR EXISTING RACERS TO STEP DOWN FROM UNLIMITED OR RACEBOAT!

That is the whole purpose of this class Shane was for people with fast boats who have power adders that are not competitive in unlimited to have a class of their own!

They will probably wait 2 or 3 weeks before the race date and let you know Tony.

So far the races are March 7th or 14th at Palatka, 2nd race will be March 21st at RedNeck Yatch club, 3rd race is April 11th at Palatka, 4th race May 23 RedNeck Yatch club. Then something in June at Palatka and maybe one in October or November!

So they go from no races for years to 3 in a month...you think they would have learned after last year after having races so close together that it doesn't work. The last race at hogwaller before the championship was the worst race I ever went to as far as boats showing up...and to have one on the weekend of broward show and one on memorial weekend also..geez..

The dates are what they are a few of them they had no control over. I guess it comes down to whats more important. One thing is for sure what ever date is picked there is always something going on. They cant have a race during hunting season either.

Never get to the level Brad wants by not getting more support from the OEM such as Diamondback, Panther, Hammit, Dynamarine, GTO, Alumintech, Sensenich, Whirlwind, Waterwalker, Ballistic, Ox Box to name some of the big boys. So scheduling a race on the weekend of the biggest airboat show that everyone knows showcase's new products is not going to get them lined up for sponsorships or more support. So lack of class in that move, hunting is not the same thing as Broward Airboat Show. Heck Dave I did not know you hunt :D :D :D :D :D :D that is my thoughts anyway.

preach brother. Hunting is a choice. But like wayne said we will be at broward with our race boat for show. So if anyone of the events should be changed its that one. I'm not talking as ptr34 or a racer. But a sponsor. That has made this possible along with other sponsors.

I really like the idea of this new class and although i had no intentions of ever putting my boat on ramps i will give it a shot now. But i can damn sure tell you i will not be dragging my shit all around florida two weekends in a row or hell even two weekends in a month. If they want to grow and make the sport something they need to get a flippin grip on reality. (With all due respect).

Ditch the race that is during the broward show, and i will be at Lake Kiss for Memorial weekend.

Gotta agree with the others, this season will be a flop if they cram it all together again. Id rather go to two really good races in a year then five shitty ones.
