Will this work?

I have a 12x7 hancock sled 6" transom. I currently have a Continental 0-360 with 2 single seats and would like to change it to an0-470 with a single driver and double passenger. Will this set-up work or is it to much weight? Thanks for any input.

I have a 12x 8 with a 4.3 Chevy and run 3 people on it. It sits at just below half hull at rest(21") transom. I'm know there are better opinions than mine, but I think that 3 people would be a lot to ask of that sled.

I agree with zrackers .... that would be a lot of weight, not only on the bouancy, but up top too. The boat might be easy to roll.
What's wrong with what you have? I think that's a sweet little rig.

it will float it with no problem, know a fellow with exactly what your wanting to do and he likes his. Your going to add about 100 lbs doing the switch. Stick an extra person on in the water and you will see how it floats.

I would love to keep the boat the way it is but there isnt enough seating for me my wife and 2 little ones. (12 and 6) if my wife had it her way we would have a tour boat so everyone could go.

if i was in your shoes, id sell it and buy a more family friendly boat. with kids that age, you shouldn't risk it. im not questioning your driving skills by any means. just doesn't seem like a family type boat!

It is an 0-360 it was originally fuel injected, someone cut the intake pipes and put a demon carb on it. We are still in the coast guard and it sounds like we will be here for a while so im gonna need a different setup. I recently inhereted a bigger boat with a 470 but the hull is in pretty bad shape and new ones are pricey. Thanks for the suggestions. dodobird thats some funny s}#%
