I will have the Barge and family ride boat there... hopefully none of the 25-30 mph. Winds like last year :angel4:

P.S Let me know how we can help other than a few seats, as we have several veterans who will be in tow with our family and will likely have only 1 or 2 seats available at the ramp. I can get vittles or condiments, plates, utensils, etc..

I'm in. Will be bringing my Moms 83 year old boyfriend. He has told his friends at the VFW about the ride. He said there was some interest but I don't know how much. I told him that all they had to do is show up at the stub canal and they would get a ride. When it gets closer I will see ir he can get some idea. If you need anything let me know willing to make a trip in advance if you need it.

I just realized this evening I might not be able to attend. I'll keep you posted. That is the same weekend as my Savannah's graduation and lots of people coming into town.

Time flies fast when you are having fun so this event will come on fast now. Gary would like to have fresh, un frozen frogs for the event and has suggested that a FEW of us get together a FEW nights ahead of the event to round up a FEW frogs but since he does not like to clean frogs,   he wants to make it casual. You know, a rodeo where we can ride and slide, pick up a FEW frogs each and have a great night out. If each of us accidently pick up 2 or 3 pounds each, we could have more than a plenty. Gary and I run neck to neck when it comes to frogging but this will be for US and not for the frogs. He and I both promise not to go to any honey holes. Gary can usually go about any night of the week and I have the nights of the 26-27 & 28 free to go. Any one that would like to join us, please chime in for the fun night out. Any one (on those nights) that would not want to go home that night is welcome to stay the night at Old Glory. "VOLUNTEERS" for the event will need reservations for the weekend since there are only room here for 30 (or so).

Here's an idea, let's broaden this scope and do fish gigging and cat fishing as well. You're only prize is what you get. I will volunteer to help clean the catch and we will put a time limit on check in at camp so that we don't have creatures being brought in at 3 AM. (unless you have them iced down). I am getting set up for fish gigging and bow fishing and both are exciting. Bring e'r on. I want to do this in the final day's so that we do not have to freeze the catch.

The 26th looks good to me. That way we can clean the catch the 27th and clean the boat on the 28th and ride the vets the 30th.

blackwaterairboats wrote:As of right now we are looking at 80 to 100 veterans and there family's. There is still people calling everyday and letting us know they are coming. We are going to need boats to carry the veterans and there familys. If you are coming to haul people please let us know so we have some kind of count. Just want to make sure we have enough seats for them.
Stevereid and I are heading down on Wed. the 27th with our two boats and hopefully I'll get a chance to add to the fresh frog legs before the weekend.

Looks like they are still needing boats so if you would like to say thank you to a veteran in a way they will remember, this is your chance, all it will cost is your time and gas.
In return you'll get to visit Camp Old Glory and enjoy some of the best eatin' in the glades.

If anyone from central Fla., (or any where else), would like to make the trip, call me at 407957-1124or321437-3265 and we can meet up Wed. morning. If you would like to go and cannot leave until later, give me a call and we can make arrangements to meet up. Thanks, Rich

Great!! Now we have a little insight as to how this year will pan out. Volunteer air boaters have always waited to see what the turnout will be and now we can plan ahead. The first year we had 63 veterans and 61 air boats (if my count was right). We will need more patriots to step up and show our support and appreciation for "some of" the veterans that served (through the armed forces) America to keep freedom for our families and fellow Americans. They served for YEARS and all we can do for them is give back one day at a time. We can't all be here for our veterans (because life goes on) but others can fill in for those that need the time off for special occasions. It's going to be a great day, a fun day and a proud day for all of us. I will put my support in 100%, please join in on this honorable occasion. We are free because of our veterans. Think about this, we could have been born in Korea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will contact BSO Marine Unit to see if they will do a fly over and areal photography again. Their photos and the ground photos will be put on a disk for all involved in this event. Charge you're batteries and fill you're gas tanks and keep in mind that the GFC/FWC will be on site so check you're safety equipment. BRING 'ER ON!!!!!

I am so sorry I can't contribute. It truly breaks my heart especially when my boat with its capacity is so desperately needed. Dammit!!

On site, he's bringing the smoker. He don't play around when it comes to cooking.

Volunteers start arriving here Wednesday. Blackwater and Marsh Rider has done a fantastic job of pulling this together this year. Gas for blood started a great event for our veterans and the "Glades". I hope he can get his boat running and can join us this weekend. Time is now short and we need all the boats that we can conjure. It will be a tight squeeze but we will succeed. I've got my camera charged up and the drones are coming in. For all friends that have enjoyed their time at Old Glory, we need you're participation this week end. Come out and enjoy a "great" day in the "Glades". :toothy7:
