Bar on Withlacoochee near Inverness

Post by JoeH » Thu May 28, 2015 8:22 pm

A few years ago I stopped at a bar somewhere near Inverness that was on the Withlacoochee .... you went down a road thru a residential area and ended up at the river ( dead end) and there was a bar there. The day we were there , there was a few airboats that pulled up on shore. I was telling a friend about it earlier today as he was going up there tomorrow .... just couldn't recall the details----- any help ?

On the Withlacoochee it would have been Turners Fish Camp & Bar . It burnt down several years ago , but is being rebuilt by new owners and is scheduled to reopen at end of June. It was always a stop when running the Loop.

Has anyone been by there to see the progress? I'm missing sleepy hollow badly lol. I used to make the trip from Zephyrhills to duval island and run there then the eagle every weekend almost. I'm having severe withdraws lol. Never went to turners but I'd love to give it a try??? :florida: :florida: :rebel:

Stop at the Dam Pub at Wysom dam. They have decent food no complaints here.

Sleepy Hollow is done. Turner's will be at least another month.
The Dam Pub is the lone option for the time being.

I will be amazed if they get TFC open in June, or even if it opens this summer.
Have you seen the place? Building is gutted. Then there are the engineered drawings and permits.
And the boat dock is in shambles.
But I wish them the best, and hope I am wrong!

Oh, it's going to take a lot of effort. Maybe will open with tiki and outdoor stage first? But it could be done, they go from dirt to turn key homes in The Villages in 42 days.

When I said, 'Turner's will be at least another month.' I was only relaying others optimism,
and meaning the shortest possible timeframe until you might stop there and buy a beer.

Having been local to the place and seeing how rumors have spread for thirty years, I opted
long ago to not be part of all that ill formed conjecture and dispensing of misinformation.

I, like everyone else look forward to it being open and finished as its absence has
created quite a vacume on the river around here where there historically was not one.
