Re: The New Wife
Looking good. Why did you choose to build the engine stand out of mild steel instead of stainless?
12' aluminum hull, 350 sbc w/ flattop Pistons and camel hump heads, side by side seating w/ double in front, 2:1 gearbox and a 78" whirlwind whispertip 2.0

Re: The New Wife
Wasn't planning on stainless at first , but I plan on running it direct drive for long enough to buy a belt or gear. Figure I'll build the engine stand for it out of stainless . Guess I'm just being cheap !

Re: The New Wife
All together and took it for a 30 minute ride this afternoon. Gonna make a few small adjustments and take it out again tomorrow.
Got painterchic working on wraps for my rudders so I should be all finished by the end of the month.
The whole project that took longer than I had hoped, but I can say I have built one out of stainless now. Definetely was a challenge. I look forward to riding this boat for a long time to come.
Here's a few more pics. I will post a final one when I get the stand painted and rudders back .

Re: The New Wife
I have a fused left wrist and a bad left elbow and was hoping right hand steer would be easier to drive than my last one.
