Blue Creek in Astor

Postby Airjack » Sat Jun 06, 2015 7:06 am

We’re going to Astor next weekend and I was thinking of riding through Blue Creek from the main river. Is it a good idea on an airboat? How many idle zones? Let me know if anyone has ran it to the lake and how it was. :thumbleft:

idle 99%, only about a 1 1/2 mile long, few houses, keeps big boats from drowning you in main river

Not sure if I wanna idle that much. So most of it is slow speed zone?

It's not what you're looking for. Best airboating is out on the lake in the shallow stuff from the jetties north. Southwest side, mouth of juniper springs up into juniper run. Careful going to juniper. Silver glen about halfway up the lake. North to salt springs from there. East side, small pasture. Car seat farther north. Doesn't take long to see it all. It's ok till the water comes up down your way :bounce:

Dan-o, Thanks for responding but I've done most of that, been there sevearal times. I was asking because we’re putting in at Paramore and thought maybe it would be an option instead of running the river to the lake. Volusia bar is nice but the road to it is hell on the truck, boat, and trailer.
Thanks again.

For sure, I don't think that anybody would fault a man for seeking an alternative to the main river going from Parramore's to the lake. On a lot of weekends, the river traffic there looks about like the Inter-Coastal Waterway.

Robby, I've been up there many times and love it. I'm just tired of beating my truck up on that road but it's better than sinking. Lol

Gotcha. Not great airboat country here. As you have figured I guess. Most of us prefer kissimmee or 46 south. You guys in cocoa need to do a rain dance.

Yeah we have some real good riding here in Cocoa, especially when the water’s up, and I love Kissimmee but sometimes we just like to set back in the cool clean water and relax all day. Very beautiful up there and great people plus it's only 1.5hrs away.

If I can get the Hovercraft fixed by then, I would love to meet up with ya'll and see if I can keep up. I sold my air boat because I was concerned about sinking it. got me a cool hover craft with full floatation so feel much safer in it. tested it sunday on the lake and it ran good until some clips that hold the skirt on came off, they were rusted.

here is a video, you can see it did good until I slide around in a turn and several of the skirts pulled lose.

unlike my airboat I had, my women rode with me on the Hovercraft.

would love to see all the cool places I have read about on the lakes around here.

Well it looks like I'm not going to make it now. Had a death in the family so we have to deal with that all day on Sat :(
