not so slick bottom...

Post by 99squeakbox » Thu Jul 30, 2015 12:55 pm

12' cottonmouth decently light rigging 0320 lycoming that's stock and in decent shape. That's the skinny on the boat. Now on to my problem I decided to finally put on a brand new bottom on the boat after I bought it. I got ALL of the old slick bottom of the boat and took my behind up to floral city airboat and got a gallon of frog spit. I don't have a compressor so I decided to roll it on. I put a total of four coats on. Got everything done and the rigging back on the boat now it seems to be very sticky. It's slick and smooth to the touch and the bottom is true. Places where I could easily run to with me and a buddy and a cooler on the boat I can't even think about going to. I can hardly get the boat to break loose in grass. Any ideas I'm still pretty new to all this. But something definitely is not right. IDEAS???

I purchased some bottom coating off internet a few years back was supposed to be NEW AND IMPROVED FROGSPIT put it on the bottom of a lil glass boat it was like the boat was glued to the ground after. Called Ron and ordered his Frogspit applied it and could ride in the yard at half throttle. Not sure if was just my luck and caught a bad batch of the new and improved or not but Ron's Frogspit worked very well

it was definitely ron's I wouldn't of bought it if it was not I still have pics of the can. That's why I was wondering if I did something wrong putting it on with a roller or what. I have pics bit I can't get them top load on here I took a picture after I put every coat on. I'll text someone the pics if they can upload them

If you put it on with a roller it more than likely has dimples ...is the finish kind of rough?? I did mine a while back and had same kind of issue, but after several dry runs it smoothed out!

Is one gallon enough? We put almost 4 gallons on my 13'6" cottonmouth.
Was told to hit a sandy area and do a bunch of 360's to knock the shine off.
Slicker than catsh!t now!! :thumbleft: :toothy7:

I have 2 gals of frog spit left over from my old hull. Never been opened. You can have them for 100.00 for both gals. You need more then one gal.

Hey I had the same thing except I went to a sandy muddy area did circles and dam it got slick fast you have to break it in. Mine is quick slick but they all do that until scuffed.
