Airboat vs. bay boat

Post by G-fish »

I've never had and airboat but always wanted one, recently been really thinking about selling my bay boat and buying one. I have a little 14' bay boat that runs extremely skinny but just isn't enough. Just wanna learn more about airboats and maybe get some help if y'all think I should keep the bay boat or sell it for an airboat?

Depends where you ramp off at. If there is a lot of deep water and boats stay with the bay boat. The difference between the running cost of a 14' boat and a airboat are not even close.

Keep the bay boat for salt life and get an airboat for the swamp life.

Your question depends entirely on where you intend to use "said" airboat vs bay boat. Personally I have both. That way all the bases are covered.

I'll be running in water 2' or shallower 95% of the time in the marsh and back lakes, will also almost always be ran in salt water

When running an outboard in shallow water it's important to have your engine kick up easily when you start running aground. If you have hydraulic tilt / trim you can get a "kick up" plate that will allow that to happen. Cook Manufacturing, CMC, makes on.

I've been stuck in the bay in a back lake overnight. Between running out beer and the Mosquitos. I sold the bay boat 2 months ago and sent deposit directly to Diamondback.
