sorry you feel that way and maybe one day yes we will sell it for a lower price!! but as of now it cost $40k but if you buy more than one we work out better pricing with the buyer.

Really???? Seems like someone could put a planetary counter rotating gearbox together for less than $40k. Even maybe alter the ratio on the second prop. Holy shit.... Did I just cost myself a $1MM patent?....

LOL I just wait someone will build a airboat CR gear to gear :stirpot: :stirpot: :stirpot: :stirpot: the concept of counter rotator props have been around for decades but with such limited market for airboat, who want to design one to stay away from your patents no one yet but we do have stinger, ox or ballistic gearboxs did :D :D in the meantime I be happy with my belt, good luck with your sell and at least you sell one :thumbleft: heck the difference between belt or yours would pay for me sweet 540 boat :D :D :D :D

1940 Bugetti CR that was hid from Nazis so not to give them the techonlgy, this was a replica big deal at the Sun & Fun this year folks talking about CR like something new lol, shame first flight had issue and this replica was damaged maybe they sell the CR :D :D :D :D :D :D check out forward wing 1940 style

What is patented about the Counter Rotator drive. Who actually holds the patent? I am just curious.

I'm new here, but from my understanding the patent is held by Panther Airboats. I guess you can only get a counter rotator gearbox from them for $40K or by purchasing a boat from them with that as an upgrade. The only other way to get a counter rotator drive is to use a belt driven version. I have no details on the patent. This opinion is just from browsing the SA site and parsing through all the comments.

40K??? For a pile of junk? It's a shame that someone would play that kind of game just to sell a boat. They would prob sell a lot more if they would get real!

US Patent office is searchable on internet as they want you to look before you submit http://www.uspto.gov/

even expired patents for things such as non payment renewal fees are listed so Active is key word, just like asking your kid a question you have pick the right words for correct answer

Would appear ol' Brue Kaye was even more innovative than most realized . . . :thumbleft:

http://pdfpiw.uspto.gov/.piw?PageNum=0& ... C807%2C149

Notice the File date: 4.21.93 and the Granted date: 09.15.98

In the United States, for utility patents filed on or after June 8, 1995, the term of the patent is 20 years from the earliest filing date of the application on which the patent was granted. For patents filed prior to June 8, 1995, the term of patent is either 20 years from the earliest filing date as above (excluding provisional applications) or 17 years from the issue date, whichever is longer.

If that is all correct (although it might not be), it looks
like that patent will expire in right about 3 weeks. :D

Maybe the alternatives will be here sooner rather than later. :)
