1976 area 2 put in at the stub canal and frogged until day light. When I got back the windshield on my van had been broken out, they stole my fishing rod and tackel. It was a cold ride home. It was still one of the best times in my life.

1998 Area 2a peanut Gore with an 0290. I miss that boat!!!

1981. Put in at 40 mb in 3a south. Ran the inside trail towards the tower where I promptly hit a tree and caved in the starboard side of my PB hull. Continued on to the east west canal toward the end of the L-28 levee where I began taking on water from the damage. Ended up sinking it at the middle plug just east of what is now the G General camp. Luckily some good Samaritan in a buggy came along on the levee and pulled my boat out and we continued on our way.

Dang-it man, forgot all about that place. Rode that area a few times back in the early eighties. Did a little huntin out there also. A childhood buddy of mine leased the old Frolic's Gator Farm after it closed down, where Ibis is now. We used to hunt the gator farm, and sneak into the catchment area from the west.

Went out to 3A with my. Good buddy 6 years ago had only ever been on a tour ride on an air boat before went out riding stopped at a bunch of camps and the swimming hole on the way back my buddy decided that he had too much to drink any told me to. Drive back to the ramp from the swimming hole. Was almost better than sex! After we got back to the ramp I told my buddy thanks you just screwed me put of atleast 5k because I have to have one. Two months later I bought that same boat from my buddy and have been running it at Okeechobee and 3A ever since. I discovered a broken stringer in my hull about a year ago and since then have taken my. Boat completely apart and currently just started to make all new rigging and can't wait to get it all put back together to test out the new 72'' NGQ prop after always swinging a wood paddle prop I'm very anxious to see how she slides with this new prop and after the rigging is all new and set up the way I think. I want it.

Watched a guy run a piece of plywood with a air motor fabed and bolted to it across a lake when I was 8. Never realized it was Hoffman. Dam what a pic of my memory it would make.

Really glad to find this website, its been a while and I miss airboating a LOT! First time for me was when I started dating Teddy M. in 1990. We put in at Midway (50) and rode towards 520. We went 3-4 days per week and we ran with a great group of friends (that I also miss). After that relationship went SOUTH.....I became best friends with Jimmy Tyner. He helped me build my first boat in 1995. It was a BAD ASS boat! Nickhopper Hull by Quintin Moore and Booby Hoffman built my engine. The story gets better.....

My first day on my brand new 12' "sparkly hull" w/0540. Jimmy, Bobby and I went to Camp Mack for the weekend. It was either late 95 or early 96. Had to run the dike down to get into the lake, and at that time it was under construction. The dike was very high and not even 5 minutes on my new boat, I was bobbing in the deep canal. Thankfully I did not want a bow box cut in, and Tyner dove in and tied my boat up and we pulled it back to Macks and since Bobby was with us, they spent the rest of the day draining all gas and oil and the next day we all rode out and had a blast! Shortly before Jimmy passed away in February 1997, I sold my boat to a guy named Rob....I think? I wish I could remember more but, after Jimmy died I haven't been on a boat but one last time... and that was where we did his ashes south of midway and the props dedicated to him and William who I also known since I was a kid. I found Jimmy dead after just running a couple errands. To this day who that knew him, loved him and I still think of him every single day!
I miss it and have been looking into buying another boat!
