Just checked on the water levels. 3a is now about 11 inches above regulation. It has been going down steadily and hopefully will reopen soon. As much as everyone wants to complain about SFWMD, at least they are moving the water south of the trail. Commissioner Bergeron was instrumental in getting them and the CORPS to forgo the restrictions placed on them by the Park as far as water quality issues. He got all parties involved to sign off on an emergency order to move the water south. Remember, in the hierarchy of what's important on paper, the welfare of the furbearing animals in 3A is on the bottom of the list. Ronnie has been adamant that they are just as important as flood control and water storage.

Correct me if I'm wrong
The water out there is controlled by the government?
So I guess that would explain why the levels are so inconsistent.

:rebel: I talk to the real estate department to day about the camp paper works , he said it would be a couple of weeks yet before they would be sent out , I told him I hope they give us extra time to get them returned. I asked about the water and the closure ,and I told him that is lower now then it was back in sept. all he could say was maybe the tribe would vote on it at the next monthly meeting which is some time around the beginning of the month, but he didn't even know if it was on the docket so its wait and see. there is no reason they should keep it closed any longer :rebel:

:rebel: Talked to real estate today, said still two to three weeks out on paper work and that the reopening was not on the meeting agenda this week. according to eden 14 the rain gauge in the reservation we are 18 inches above our lowest ground elevation, not our highest so water in the cypress and the ridge lines would be less . WHAT ARE THEY WAITING ON BONE DRY :rebel:

The latest word is that it will be at least another two weeks until the area is open. The deer are still up on the levees and in the tree islands for now. The water level is still a little over 6 inches above regulation. Even if the water was down further, the stress on the animals has to be considered for the opening of the area.

The area is still closed. If you go to the FWC website you can check on what's open and closed. The water is still about 6 inches above regulation and they are still finding a large amount of deer on the levees during their surveys. They also are not issuing permits to camp owners at this time. There is optimism that the closure will be lifted soon seeing that the water levels continue to drop. FWC is having a meeting this week in Jupiter so if you want to get up the date info and express your concerns about the closure, show up and speak.

That is true. But frogging in the daylight might be frowned upon.

A map of the closed areas would be nice. I am more of a visual person vs reading. Plus i have not learned all the the names of areas/camps.

I thought that was true also got caught at Bergeron's landing one night about 10:00 luckily before we put the boat in the water game warden said yeah you can frog but you have to be east of the Miami canal.
my fault though I didn't read the rules thoroughly

Here's the website for the closure
http://myfwc.com/viewing/recreation/notices/

If I read it correctly the map enclosed by green should show what is open.
