I don't know about Iowa but I was just in Nebraska and there's a lot there. Mostly between Lincoln and Columbus. I don't know where in Iowa you are I just know they border each other.

Yes there seems to be several airboaters in Nebraska. I am planning on going to Thunder on the Loup this summer.....We may have to make our own fun here in south central Iowa until then. I plan to run it on the Des Moines river and some other creeks/rivers in the area. Not too many swamps in this area....

Larry Sims has a nice airboat and lives in Knoxville too. He is the president of the bowfishing association. I think he owns a production company that films bow hunting and other fishing events. If you see his boat you will know it for sure. We'll get together later this year. Tim

I plan on running deep water somewhat often on the river. I wanted a larger boat so I'd feel a bit safer. This is my first airboat. I have only ran it once, but it seems to scoot along pretty good.

If you think having a large boat will keep you out of trouble--

The Platte River is great running just about any time it is not too high. There are 3 public ramps that I know of. One at Highway 50 and the Platte River by Louisville. One by Highway 64 and the Platte River just west of Valley and one in Fremont at a city park by the Platte River. From time to time I can get permission to take some one out of our ramp at the camp grounds where we run our boat out of at highway 92 and the Platte River.

We are looking forward to good times and meeting some new people. Ready for the frozen tundra to go away. Just about launched my boat in the snow the other day, .....but I really don't like the cold that much. And I can only imagine how out of control I could get this boat out on the snow. Sounds like fun....kind of.

I've only ran it once on the river. Just bought it in November. I didnt clock it but it runs out pretty good for a huge boat. Its cold here. Supposed to be upper 50's this weekend. Might take it for a spin. I need the practice. Can't think of anything more fun to do on a February day in Iowa !!
