How big a sprayer?

Post by FanTastic »

I've got a pretty big and heavy 16 X 8.5 with a 572. I am adding a sprayer system.

I picked up a couple of spray heads from Hamant but I've few details on how much / at what rate they will spray out. I don't plan to use it a bunch.

Will a 5 gallon tank be enough for or should I double size it and go with 10?

What size pump should I use? I was thinking a 3.5 GPM Shurflo fresh water pump that we use in new saltwater boats that we well. We also stock a smaller pump that flows 1 GPM???

Any help appreciated.

Use the 3.5 gpm pump. Makes more pressure. I have an 8 gal tank and if I use it a bunch running dry ground it will make it through the day

I had an Aluminum spray tank from http://www.surpluscenter.com on my last barge. 15 Gal I think. Came in real handy when traveling, camping and bow fishing. I used a pump from Northern Tool. Got my spray nozzles from Amazon. Brass sprinkler heads. Here are the links to the stuff I used. Also consider adding a check valve in your bow to keep the water from running all the way back to the tank. Otherwise, its not there when you need it. Got the check valve from amazon too. A few other things to consider is a hose bib for a washdown hose and a pickup outside the boat. Not for everyone but just some ideas. I loved having my springy hose to wash down or bathe with when out on the boat. Not sure if your on FB but I have several pics of my system on there. Just shoot me a PM if you want my info.

Runing out of time but similar to this on the nozzle but 180° and solid brass

My tank was like this but Aluminum (Don't see them anymore but you can get one built or check with some of the aluminum fab shops)

Used these on my last boat. They work just as good and are easier to mount:

I have one, and rarely use it. Had to empty this past weekend as the "stuff" in it was getting "funky". Only use it when I need it, and that's not a too often...

Don't know how big of a tank you have, but if you add a shot or two
of bleach per gallon it will live longer before acquiring said funkiness.

Yes, I did that, but it seemed to have these "flakes" in it. I think it was the Simple Green coagulating. Not 100% sure, and it broke up when I ran the hose in the tank, but I wanted to get it out of there nonetheless.
