Greg (Diggin) should be back in action now. My Son was able to pick up Jason's (Elevator Guy) warp drive, and deliver it to Greg in 2A. They had it bolted on when my Son decided to head back to the ramp.

Yes he did. I couldn't believe he came down just to bring me that prop. Thank you so much! I'm so fortunate. That plate was moments from total failure.

Diggin, do you have any idea why the plate failed? Do you think it was just fatigue or some other factor? It might be the camera angle but it looks like the end of the through bolt is very near the flywheel, is there a possibility that the end of the starter bendix contacted it when it engaged the starter ring? Just wondering.

That is a scary fail, glad you found it before it went bad. I don't even want to think about what could have happened Diggin!

I don't even want to guess how it happened. Wait until you see the whole plate. Scary. I felt like puking when I saw how bad it is. I'll post pics later. I noticed a very slight vibration right at the end of my last ride. Going out to camp yesterday, felt the vibration a little more. Started looking everywhere. Checked every blade, made sure all the bolts on the prop were tight, checked alternator bolts; everything good. Finished unpacking and decided to ride over to another camp when the vibration started getting stronger and I knew I definitely had a problem. Eased back to camp and that's when I found the crack.

Diggin is there any effort to diagnosis the cause of the defect?

It is a Whirlwind hub assembly right? Are they interested in examining the defective component?

By chance was this one of the prop set up's that runs staggered pitch?

I'm not going to hazard a guess as to why this happened. However, I was not running a staggered pitch, nothing hit the prop and nothing was loose. I've already spoke with the manufacturer and arrangements are being made to get the whole prop and all the hardware to them to analyze what may have happened. We spoke at length about the event and issues leading up to it but I will leave the final analysis to them. Once I receive it, I will share at that time. Not trying to be a hardass but want to be fair to the manufacturer. They are being very cooperative and they deserve their time.

Now that the prop is disassembled and the plate is relaxed, look how close to disaster we were.
