I called FWC's South Regional office yesterday and was told alligator hunting and frogging is allowed in 3A South from airboats. Apparently the news release has it wrong.
I suggest you call and verify for yourself.

Just got of the phone with FWC, only gator hunting or frogging allowed is in the small open area east of the Miami canal. I was specifically told rest of area 3 is closed frogging and gator hunting included? I my self have tags to fill there :fishing but looks like sit and wait time :dontknow:

Permitted activities by vessel only…no airboats.

News Release
Thursday, September 08, 2016
Media contact: Carol Lyn Parrish, 850-556-2269
Due to recent storm events, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has temporarily closed several activities and roads in the Everglades Wildlife Management Area until further notice. Fishing and other specified activities will remain open.
Public access to the interior of the WMA is prohibited, except Conservation Area 2A from the L-35B levee north to the east-west airboat trail, and Conservation Area 3A South, east of the Miami Canal between I-75 and the L-67A levee. The closure applies to vehicles, airboats, all-terrain vehicles and any other public access, and will remain in effect until further notice to ensure public safety and resource conservation.
These closures do not apply to persons permitted to participate in the statewide alligator hunts, migratory bird hunts, frogging, fishing, or people operating boats within the established canal systems. Access for these activities is limited to vessels only, and participants must maintain a minimum distance of 100 yards from any tree island to minimize disturbance to wildlife. Usage of airboats or tracked vehicles is not permitted for these activities.
Additionally, taking of game, as defined in section 68A-1.004, Florida Administrative Code, is prohibited, except certain duck, coot and snipe hunting, and frogging. Those activities may be conducted in accordance with 68A-13.003, 68A-13.008 and 68A-15.004, respectively.
If you have additional questions, contact the FWC’s South Regional Office at 561-625-5122.

Time to build a Pole Boat. Pretty soon, if they have it their way, only method left to get through the Glades.

Well...

considering the fact that there is only 16- 22" of ponding depth thru ought th sloughs in all of WCA-3B and only an average of 22"- 28" in WCA-3A South between the Micc. Rev and the L-67, I can't see why it was closed to us common folk.

These #'s are accurate and current from 67 sites measured from last Monday - Thursday.

I have my belief sooner or later the nps is gonna want the other side of the trail, and its just a matter of time .The 3 parks on the south side are now being forced to sell so nps can celebrate there accomplishments of the 100th year anniversary, there moving in without people arguing and standing up for there own buisnesses and private land and no one knows about this .At the end its all about the dirty water they are forcing down our throats and the hell with nature and everything in it!Dirty politics and wasted tax payer dollars at its worst! :proud:
