I'll be in a meeting with Ronnie Bergeron tomorrow night. You can bet I'll be asking him why the water isn't being released yet...

So Mr. Bergeron takes it upon himself to help camp owners, like himself
Invited over 50 people to his HOME, and offeres hospitality
Shares information
Actively supports the Gladesman culture
Puts his money where his mouth is supporting events
Serves as a FWC appointed commissioner
Is very active in helping those in need
A member of the Broward Airboat club

Bergeron is a member of the Broward County Airboat Association and the Everglades Coordinating Council. In addition, Bergeron is a Board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County. He supports many charities, such as Broward Partnership for the Homeless, Children's Harbor, Jacob's Shoes, Florida Sheriff's Explorers, Crime Stoppers, Broward County Police Memorial, Florida Arthritis Foundation and many more.

and more...

I have known the Bergerons all my life
I know all the good and bad that they do
Probably more good then bad these days
I know that JR is the only one that would tell you the truth about anything
And he is the crazy one of the bunch
If I needed a job they would give me one tomorrow
If you have been in davie as long as I have then you no everyone jokes about his pants or his sneaker boots
So just relax. People tell jokes about me you and all people
Just part of life

Now as far as the water go's do you think it is good for the animals out there
Cuz I don't !

I my self think it has something to do with BIG SUGAR
And the damage they have been allowed to do
I am no expert on it so I need to relie on what people like Ronnie say

As far as what I do
I work, pay my taxes and take care of my family
And never take anything to serous

I was at the meeting and I noticed that Mr Bergeron was frustrated with the current situation. I won't even begin to attempt to cover what he said but it would appear that the issue is due to incomplete projects preventing a natural flow from 3A South into the Everglades; too many levees, canals and water control structures mentioned to keep track of. I believe he said that it will in most part be remedied in the next few months when the first phase becomes operational. He recommended that anybody that is interested to learn what is happening to go to his website and follow the link to Articles. He also recommended going to the SFWMD website as well.

The water isn't flowing as fast as it was during the emergency release a few months ago. They have slowed down the water through the canals and are trying to direct it through the ENP. L67 & 31C south has slowed down a lot. We saw it Saturday south of the Trail. This has caused retention in area 3.

It's not the FWC that's dictating the water levels. Everglades park is not letting the water flow south as much due to water quality issues. The S- 12s are flowing more water out than what is being pumped into Area 3. There is also the shutting of gates so we don't disturb the wonderful Cape Seaside Sparrow. As Commissioner Bergeron has said, until we get some of the projects on the Trail finished, water flow will always be a problem. If any of you have been following Everglades restoration for the past few years, you will realize that the wildlife in Area 3 is on the bottom of the list of priorities. The CORPs directives are flood control for us and the agricultural areas. If the folks up in the St Lucie and Caloosahatchee had their way, we would have 5 feet of water in Area 3.
