Slide/parking space for airboat?

Post by rgpatton » Wed Oct 19, 2016 9:00 am

I am starting to do some thinking on building an airboat slide/parking space. Have any of you ever built one? if so, post pics. What are some things to think about. I want to be able to get it out of the water when not in use, but also be able to just push it back in the water when we want to use it. I want to get away from running it up on land and then have to run it back off land. What are your thoughts? Has anyone built one that can show pictures? Thanks.

What's wrong with running up on the dri land and driving off ?
I spent $8000 on a motor so I could do that
A nice smooth grass ramp with some sand in the water would be sweet
You could make a nice ramp out of composite like the ramps in Kissimmee that are made for crossing the roads, but to push it back in the water you would probably have to leave it at an angle. And then you would have to have a strap to hold it there
It would be cool to have a ramp with a flat deck to turn around on and dive off
But push it off a flat deck and down a ramp that sounds like hard work.
But I don't know you , you could be a badazz that could just pick a boat up and throw it in the water :dontknow:
Hope this helps

Is propwash the issue or lack of ground running ability?

I'm sure someone has a picture of An airboat on a lift
That would be sweet
I have seen a trailer with no wheels on it used for a small lake boat
But dam that's just too redneck !

Couple 2X6X8 with 2 wide enough to separate them nailed or screwed to make a ramp. Stick it in the edge of the water and have fun.

I sort-of do that with my hovercraft, but it helps when it provides its own lift!! ;)

Driving up on dry land and is the cheapest an simplest way......... I mean it is a airboat which means water is optional not like some bass boat.

You could build a wood ramp on each side of your dock platform an drive up one side and back down the other , but it will cost you allot more then just driving up on dry land
