A New Adventure
As if I'm not in enough pain, I bought another boat and motor today. Picked up this 1989 Thurman and purchased an upstack 540 to put on it. New paint and we're good to go! Thinking old school for the paint but might put a slight modern twist to it. Lots of history to this boat, though, so I've got to be true. This will be fun!

I looked at that
Just couldn't do it I've got trouble at home all ready with the wife
Did you get a deal or pay him what he was asking?

What I paid is immaterial. However, the previous owner is a very good friend of mine and we're both satisfied with the deal.helicsher wrote:I looked at that

Re: A New Adventure
Good lookin boat, digging! Hope to see you on it in the spring. I so hate that I don't live down there and would be able to ride with y'all more often. See ya in the spring, brother!!
Re: A New Adventure
The asking price was a deal! Call Benny Webb right now and that identical hull will cost you over 10k. That aluminum rigging was built by the legendary gladesman Wayne Cone, the man who drove an airboat to Bimini. That boat was custom built by Gary Thurman for Ron Bergeron; the history of that boat can't be duplicated. All of that aside, you will be hard-pressed to find a Thurman in better condition than that boat is. When diggin finishes that boat not only will he have one of the baddest Thurmans in the woods, but he will also have the one with the coolest history. But then again maybe I'm biased in opinion lol. Not to mention it came with a dovetail trailer and a Thurman manufacturers title, so he'll have no issues insuring it. Geez, you guys searching the classifieds must want stuff for free lmao.helicsher wrote:I looked at that

You beat me to it by a few hours! I called him tonight to go see it since I was "out west" for once when he told me the bad news
. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

It was actually sold on Friday. Had to wait until today when the banks opened to finalize the deal. I'm really excited. The same guy that built my SV is building the upstack and his brother will be doing the paint. Hopefully it will be ready for the Broward show.billford216 wrote:You beat me to it by a few hours!
