Old Airboat Camps
Has anyone on here heard of the Bonnet Pond airboat camp that used to be in the cypress off of L28 canal in what is now Miccosukee Land?
My dad was a member of this camp and I was wondering if it is still standing.

Re: Old Airboat Camps
I used to see a Bobby Archer on Facebook who was a deputy but I never got in touch. I always wondered if he was Robert's son
My dad's boat was the green and white Taylor with the real tall rigging.
I had about 50 pounds of pictures of airboating in the Sawgrass and lake Okeechobee, but lost them in a divorce.
Man I'd love to see some pictures of that camp as it is today.

Re: Old Airboat Camps
The twins are the daughters of my dad's second wife, (close enough on the spelling).
The one who wouldn't get in the jeep was probably my full sister, Leslie.
David Taylor is one of my best friends, I go over to church rd all the time, I'll pm you next time I'm in Felda and we can share stories over a beer or three.

My dad's on his 3rd marriage doing great except for getting old, and I know nothing of the twins these days.

Re: Old Airboat Camps
Regina was actually full sisters of the twins. Lol don't know why she wouldn't ride.
We moved to Felda in 1980, so dad must have sold his boat somewhere between 78 and then.
We used to ride with Bill McLellan, who was a shrimper, Paul Lawrence, Sr. (Well drilling), Rodney Summerall, and a few others that I was too young to remember.
Robert Archer had an 0540 on a red white and blue full deck that was about as bad a boat as you could want.
Bill McLellan had a 10 foot deckover with a nasty 200 angle valve and dad had the 3/4 deck Taylor with the 180 and nose bleed rigging.

Governor Claude Kirk had a camp built in west 3a, almost due east of the jet port back in the 60's. It is now Donnies camp.
